Over 90 percent of food allergies are to one of eight foods: wheat, soy, eggs, cow milk, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts and fish. The causes of allergies remain unclear, though researchers are working hard to piece together the puzzle. Last week, Discovery News reported on a study concluding that having a college degree may increase the risk of developing food allergies, while being an immigrant may reduce your risk factor. These are correlations, not cause-and-effect relationships, and the links aren’t clear.
